Rebecca Kiefer is a respected prosecutor who has a proven track record of protecting children and families while passionately working to keep our community safe. Every day, she helps children who have been abused or neglected find permanence in safe, loving homes.

Rebecca is a dependable, hard-working legal professional, and a seasoned attorney with more than 15 years of experience practicing law. She’s the person we need as the next judge in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Branch 29.

For more than a decade, Rebecca has been an Assistant District Attorney in Milwaukee County. She has successfully represented the state in over 100 jury and bench trials, numerous appeals, and in written and oral argument before the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

Rebecca is very active in the legal community. She serves as Chair of the Children & the Law Section of the State Bar of Wisconsin, as a Director for the Association for Women Lawyers and the Government Lawyers Division, and trains attorneys from across Wisconsin on issues dealing with children and the law.

Prior to her time as a local prosecutor, Rebecca was assistant attorney in the Town of Wayne and the Village of Kewaskum, and an associate at Kiefer Law Office with her father, Gerald Kiefer.

Earlier in her career, Rebecca wrote sections of the Wisconsin Domestic Violence Prosecutor’s Manual which is still in use today. This manual outlines the best practices in the prosecution of domestic violence cases, and expands awareness on issues like the effect of domestic violence on children and the links between animal cruelty and domestic abuse.

Rebecca has shown her commitment to her community by investing her time and skills in big and small ways. She serves on the board for her local community foundation, and she’s a veteran Polish Fest volunteer. She participates in local service projects, such as river cleanup, as a member of the Rotary Club of Downtown Milwaukee.

Rebecca is married to Paul Bodis, a union worker for Southwest Airlines, and they have two young children. She’s an involved mom who volunteers at her daughter’s school and her Girl Scout Daisy Troop.
